Our Intellectual Property, IT and Data Protection Department assists our clients in the protection of  their brands, products, data and privacy. The value of the advice we offer is added to by the experience gained by the department head, Yannis Chryssospathis, in various key roles in the sector, such as representative of the Association of Greek Industrialists at the Patents’ Working Party of the Union of Industrial and Employers Confederation of Europe. Yannis is currently acting head of the industrial property department of the Greek Pharmaceutical Industries’ Association.

  • the EU and national laws and regulations governing the collection, use, transfer and any other processing of personal data
  • the obligations imposed on personal data controllers in relation to the processing of personal data, including the obligation to inform data subjects and the procedure for obtaining their consent
  • making notifications to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority and obtaining authorization for the processing of sensitive personal data, the interconnection of files and the transfer of personal data to third countries
  • legitimising data transfers including compliance with safe harbour privacy principles
  • sanctions for failure to comply with the EU and Greek legislation on the protection of personal data
  • data protection principles applicable to specific areas of processing such as human resources, whistleblowing hotlines, marketing, public relations, market research, banking services, health services and closed circuit television
  • the privacy and information law applicable to internal investigations
  • participation in multi-jurisdictional surveys involving advising on the interface of data protection laws with other relevant legislation including privacy of electronic communications
